About Hornbeam Herbals: Growing Your Own Herbs
Hornbeam Herbals launches the spring season with a special guest visit from our friends Hackney Herbal!
Nat from Hackney Herbal brings their introductory class for growing herbs in urban spaces. If you want to improve your knowledge and gain confidence to start growing medicinal and culinary herbs, this is the thing! It is suitable for complete beginners and those who already have some gardening or growing experience.
Nat will give you an overview of growing herbs in different urban conditions (pots, windowsills, raised beds etc), covering plant life cycles, propagation methods, soil types, plant care, harvesting, drying and storing herbs. Through the workshop we will also touch on some of the uses and properties of herbs. You will have the opportunity during the session to plant some herbs seeds to take home.
Hackney Herbal is a social enterprise promoting wellbeing through herbs. We grow herbs in a patchwork of sites around Hackney creating unique herbal tea blends. The sale of these helps to fund our community activities supporting people towards better mental health and wellbeing.
