About A Celebration of Birds and Beer
A Celebration of Birds and Beer is a collaborative event between Walthamstow Wetlands, London’s biggest and newest urban wetland, the Wildcard Brewery, local brewers of no-nonsense, uncompromising beers and Dave Fairlamb, birding and wildlife expert. Birds have been a main feature with the inn and brewing trades for hundreds of years and have provided the inspiration behind names of pubs, breweries and brews across the land. To celebrate birds and beer, join Dave Fairlamb for a walk through Walthamstow Wetlands to explore the 211 hectare nature reserve located just 15 minutes from central London and discover the many species found on site including the Little Bunting, Grey Heron, Reed Bunting, Tufted Duck and Little Egret. Following the walk, visitors will head out to the Wildcard Brewery where beer and nibbles will be served and there will be a fascinating talk on the unique relationship between birds and brew. Visitors will then enjoy a spot of beer tasting - from a fresh and crisp Czech-style pilsner such as the Joker Lager to the Ace of Spades Porter with its full bodied flavours of rich chocolate, smooth caramel and a roasted coffee edge, there will be a selection of beer to tantalise the palette of all!
