About Butterfly Shoes
Come along to the Home Ed Discoverers’ summer musical, “Butterfly Shoes” by Geoff Bamber.
The Kingdom of the Valley is ruled by the inoffensive King Leopold. The apple of his eye is his beautiful, if rather temperamental daughter, the Princess Winona. Winona is devoted to her grandmother, the King’s somewhat cantankerous mother-in-law. The old lady keeps the Princess amused by making up stories about the twinkly butterfly-decorated shoes that she always wears - The Butterfly Shoes.
Disaster strikes the hitherto peaceful kingdom when a pair of inept robbers steal not only the shoes but the Royal Granny as well.
Granny is soon returned by the robbers who also bring back the bad news that, not only have they not got the shoes, but that the shoes are now in the possession of the dreaded Chief Zantia, leader of the all-female Mountain People and subject of King Leopold’s worst nightmares.
Princess Winona is distraught and King Leopold is obliged to offer a huge reward and the Princess’s hand in marriage to any dashing hero-type able to retrieve the shoes.
Cometh the hour, cometh the man in the form of wandering adventurer Darius, who is attracted by the money if not the Princess. Darius, encouraged by Alberta, the Royal Sorcerer, and unably assisted by Ratka, the Court Jester, sets out to retrieve the shoes.
Adventure and Chief Zantia await.
