About Introduction and Intermediate poetry and prose
BLOCK 1 dates: 3rd Sep-1st Oct 7-9pm
BLOCK 2 dates: 19th Nov - 3rd Dec 7-9pm
This introductory class is designed to help you discover your writing voice, through the completion of short poetry and prose exercises. You'll learn basic strategies for gathering writing ideas. In the class we will explore, what makes a good story? What makes a good poem? You will learn to reflect critically on your own writing practice and understand more fully the kind of writing you wish to undertake in the future.
This is for writers who are not absolute beginners and follows on from block 1. You will produce creative work of your own and learn how to discuss and critique the work of others. Exercises will be given for both poetry and prose but students are encouraged to follow their own areas of interest if they prefer.
?The classes will explore openings, plot and character development and writing powerful endings. Poetry exercises will be free verse mainly and designed to help prose writing as well as give an opportunity to explore your poetic voice.
