About Film: The Nickel presents The Getaway (1972) on 16mm

We’ve come a lot of miles, but we’re not close to anything.

The Nickel presents a series of road films, starting with Sam Peckinpah’s brutal Texan noir The Getaway (1972) presented on 16mm film. Based on Walter Hill’s adapted screenplay of the Jim Thompson novel, The Getaway puts Steve McQueen and Ali McGraw on the run to the El Paso border after a botched heist. Peckinpah fills the screen with poetic carnage in this shotgun blast of a genre pic, with McQueen at the height of his powers.

Doors open at 18.30, for a 19.30 start. Seating is unallocated.

Refreshments will be available in our licensed cafe/bar.
