About Little Explorers Christmas in the Woods
Come and join us for some wintery fun in the woods. The Secret Adventurers' Club's under 5s Christmas event is a great opportunity to play and explore this beautiful wild part of South East London.
What we'll get up to:
- seasonal arts and crafts - we'll be making raindeer and Christmas decorations
- there are plenty of areas to explorer in Dacres Wood, including the den the children have nicknamed the "Woodland Cafe"
- we'll have our mud kitchen equipment out so the children can enjoy making leaf soups and mud stews
- a Christmas themed story
- lots exploration tools such as story books exploring the winter season; spotter sheets; magnifying glasses/bug pots
- finish off with snacks and hot chocolate by the fire
About the Secret Adventures' Club
The Secret Adventurers' Club are passionate about getting kids outdoors and into nature. We run weekly preschooler groups called Little Explorers; facilitate "Wild Parties"; run afterschool nature clubs in schools and community gardens; and run nature and botanical based workshops.

Terms & conditions for Little Explorers Christmas in the Woods
If you are unable to attend the session, please let us know. Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a refund for cancellations within 10 days of date of session. In the unlikely event that the Secret Adventurers’ Club has to cancel a full refund will be provided.
Sessions go ahead in all weather, unless it’s safe to do so, such as in high winds or thunderstorms.
Safety on Site
Children must be accompanied by a responsible adult who will supervise them and remain responsible for their safety for the duration of the session. This site has uneven paths, a ponds and wild areas. Adults must be aware of this and the dangers this can present for young children.
Adults and children must be respectful and considerate of the of wildlife spaces we use and not damage or destroy them.
Before you begin your first session you’ll be asked to sign a consent form and provide your details, including any medical conditions your child has. It’s important that we know ahead of time of any allergies, or medical conditions that could affect your child’s ability to participate in the session.
If your child requires medication, such as an inhaler or Epipen, the accompanying adult must ensure they are always available and able to administer them. Staff are trained in first aid but are not allowed to administer medication.
What to Bring
We play out in all weather. Strong winds and thunderstorms are the only exceptions. Rain never stops play, it just makes bigger puddles. We recommend that everyone (including parents) come prepared for the weather. The site can get muddy, so wellies and waterproofs are always a wise option. Session take place outdoors, so coats, hats, gloves and warm shoes are recommended in cold weather.
Neither the Secret Adventures’ Club nor Lewisham Council can take responsibility for any personal property that is lost or damaged during the session.
Feedback and Concerns
We are always keen to hear back from our participants to find out about their experiences with us and welcome the opportunity to rectify and resolve any concerns or problems. In the unlikely event of a problem arising during a session please notify a member or staff or volunteer as soon as possible. Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with any issues.
Protecting your privacy
Personal information, stored on paper, such as the booking form you sign when you first join, will be stores, safely, for a duration of up to 3 years as they contained your signed consent to our terms and conditions. Emails provided will not automatically be added to our mailing list, you will need to subscribe to our mailing list to receive regular news and updates.
Whilst we respect privacy of individuals we do take photographs and sometimes short video clips during our sessions which we like to use to help encourage others to come along. We always ask those who attend whether they are happy for photos/videos to be used for marketing purposes or shared onto our social media page. We NEVER share you details or photos with third parties.
