We Can Be Heroes Disco (Adult Ticket)

Calling all mini Mad Maxes and tiny Tank Girls: We Can Be Heroes is back at Walthamstow Trades Hall on Sunday, 31st March. It’s a post-apocalyptic, dystopian disco for grown-up geeks and their kid sidekicks.

We Can Be Heroes is for fans of comic books, superheroes, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Star Trek, Dungeons & Dragons and every aspect of geek culture, past and present. It’s a whole afternoon of awesome.

The music is a mix of blockbuster soundtracks and 80s pop, upbeat indie and big, silly rock. Think John Hughes meets John Williams. Expect to hear Pat Benatar, the Ramones, Weird Al, Weezer, Kiss, AC/DC, Cyndi Lauper, They Might Be Giants, Violent Femmes, Bon Jovi, David Bowie, Kenny Loggins, and more. All played at a child-friendly volume that’s still perfect for dancing.

We've teamed up with Yard Sale Pizza, conveniently located directly opposite Walthamstow Trades Hall, to offer all attendees a 20% discount on all orders for takeaway or dining in. Just show them your WCBH Transformers hand stamp when you order. Pizza? Cowabunga, dudes!

Dressing up really creates the atmosphere. Whilst we won’t have a strict costume policy, we want you - grown-ups and kids - to come dressed up as your favourite characters from comics, films, sci-fi or fantasy. Hero or villain? The choice is yours.

A dressing up box is provided, as well as games and puzzles to play, and loads of drawing materials available for budding comic artists. Plus, there’s face painting with a sci-fi and superhero slant from LoveLatouche Faces.

There will be no admission to adults unless they’re part of a group that includes children. So friends, grandparents, mentors, stoic and long-suffering manservants, etc. are all welcome. We are operating an inclusive event, and we want it to be both safe and fun for everyone who comes along.

Walthamstow Trades Hall is located just off of Hoe Street, a 5-minute walk from Walthamstow Central Station, towards the junction with Forest Road. It has a dance floor, plenty of seating, and a cash-only bar with 1990s prices.

Tickets are just £6 for adults, £3 for children up to 16 year old (plus booking fee). Children under 2 are free. Buy your tickets here:
