About The Nickel presents: A NIGHT OF ACCELERATIONISM w/ JAKE CHAPMAN, AMY IRELAND, MAYA B KRONIC + ACID HORIZON

WHY IS IT EASIER TO IMAGINE THE END OF THE WORLD THAN IT IS TO IMAGINE THE END OF CAPITALISM?

One of Britain’s most provocative artists Jake Chapman (of The Chapman Brothers) responds to the question: Why is it easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of Capitalism?

The answer may lie in ‘Accelerationism’. Capitalism, it claims, is breaking down society, humanity, and our planet. Accelerationists assert that the only way forward is not to struggle against runaway technological advancement and the cultural and political fragmentation that accompanies it, but to embrace it and ride it even harder, regardless of where that takes us.

ACCELERATE OR DIE! (YOU GET THE DYSTOPIA YOU DESERVE) focuses on the meeting point of technology, Capitalism and the climate crisis, featuring Alex Williams, Amy Ireland, Beth Singler, Isabel Millar, Jeanette Winterson, Matt Colquhoun, Patricia MacCormack, Peter Wolfendale, Robin Mackay, Superflux, Tim Crosland, Will Davies and Will Self.

The Nickel Cinema presents a private screening of the film as part of this event, along with a panel conversation hosted by Adam Jones from the Acid Horizon podcast, featuring Jake Chapman, experimental writer and theorist Amy Ireland and Maya B. Kronic - the agent, patient, and product of an ongoing research project on hyperstition, gender accelerationism, and cuteness.

The panel conversation will be followed by a music set by Maya B. Kronic performing as DJK Huysmans.
