About Ascot Special Hat Making Workshop
Sahar Millinery will be showcasing their best hats at West Elm Kingston, ahead of Royal Ascot. From Friday 31st May until Sunday 2nd June, West Elm will host London milliner Sahar Freemantle for a hat making workshop and pop up hat shop.
Sahar will be running a special hat making workshop, in which you can learn the tricks of the trade, and walk away with your own summer fascinator. Sahar will teach feather manipulation, how to shape sinamay into delicate flowers, and how to bring elements together, including birdcage veil, to your own unique design to suit you.
Sahar will provide all materials such as sinamay, feathers, net veiling, gems and all sorts of adornments. If you have something special eg a brooch or piece of fabric, please bring it along and see if we can incorporate into your hat! If you have an outfit in mind to match your hat with, feel free to bring it along.
What we cover:
- Stripping, curling, cutting feathers
- sinamay moulding, stretching, rolling, and shaping
- birdcage veiling
- how to create shapes which flatter the face
This is a great first crash course in hat making for people who are curious in the art of millinery and those who would like to learn a new craft, as well as those who just want a new hat!
Limited Spaces. No experience necessary.
Please note, this workshop will be on the shop floor, and therefore in public view.
