Introduction to Bellydance
In this fun and comprehensive class, Emma will deconstruct the myths surrounding this culturally rich and often misunderstood art form. After a short discussion on the history and cultural context of bellydance, we will start with a full warm-up before thoroughly breaking down the muscular mechanics of some frequently-seen bellydance steps and getting you moving with them. By the end of class, you’ll have a short combination to take home with you.
Please, bring comfortable clothes you can move freely in, and ballet shoes/socks/bare feet - be prepared to sweat. Hip scarfs aren’t necessary, but no stray coin belt will be turned away.
Prop based yoga practice for deep release and regeneration. In this slow pace class poses are held for much longer while our bodies stay fully supported by the props. Every bodily shape we practice will assist with achieving a particular benefit; opening of the lungs, balancing of the hormones or calming of the mind. This style of yoga requires from us our full attention into an active and intuitive inquiry of one self. It invites us to let go and embrace the full landscape of the self.
Please bring with you one thick blanket.
