About Magical Moths - Family Event
Join Dorset Wild Explorers for a morning in the woods from 10-11.30am to learn about moths. We'll run a moth trap the night before so should have plenty of live moths for you to see up close, hopefully including some big and colourful ones. It really is a magical experience! We'll also have some moth inspired crafts, plus all our usual woodland activities (hammock, mud kitchen, den etc). Recommended for 2-10 years.
£4 per child. Accompanying parents and non-walking siblings free.
If you'd like to find out about prices for sibling groups please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Location – the sessions are in the woodland between Talbot Drive and Langside Avenue, just off Alder Road in Poole. Nearest postcodes either BH12 5ED or BH12 5BN.
Clothing – I recommend that you wear lightweight long sleeves and trousers (even when it's hot I promise it's cooler in the shade of the woods!) to reduce the chances of any scratches or insect bites. I also recommend closed toe shoes rather than sandals - but obviously the choice is yours!
Facilities – there are no facilities in the woods, nearest toilets are Sainbury’s Alder Hills or in the Aldi car park at Wallisdown.
Poor weather – we’ll run if there’s a bit of rain and just put up some shelters. If there are very high winds or storms we may need to cancel, in which case a refund would be issued. Please note that moth trapping is weather dependent so if there is poor weather the night before we may have to amend/cancel but we would contact by 9am on the day of the activity.
About us – Kate is trained as a Forest School Leader (Level 3) and in first aid and has many years’ experience working in nature and the outdoors. We have permission from Talbot Village Trust to use this area of woodland for the playgroup.
