About Seed stories and symbionts

workshop / show & tell 1-4pm

Bring some seeds, or stories, or your stories about seeds to share around the microscope as part of Spitalfields City Farm's wildlife appreciation day with artists and conservationists.

During this afternoon of discussion, microscope gazing and making, we will explore the human and more-than-human stories that are carried by our seeds; taking a closer look at their shapes and textures and meeting some of the microscopic communities that inhabit them.

We will also be introduced to the ways in which digital technology can be harnessed for community seed saving, and try out different methods for preserving and innoculating your favourite seeds with honey, compost / worm tea and home made bio-fertilisers.

This workshop is a collaboration between the Roving Microscope, London Freedom Seed Bank and the Connected Seeds Library; and is supported by the British Ecological Society.

Tickets are £3 (not including booking fee), however there are also some subsidised free places available for those on low / no income. To reserve a free place email hari@nomad.org.uk

If you have any access needs you would like us to accomodate on the day, please email hari@nomad.org.uk
